“Healthy food is one of the reasons for Man’s prosperity” – in keeping with this piece of ancient Indian wisdom, ayurvedic teachings ascribe great importance to proper nutrition. The Sanskrit term "Ayurveda" means “knowledge of life” and is one of the most complete medical systems in the world. It is a health system that encompasses all aspects of life from the physical-material to the intellectual-spiritual, from conception through to death.

Over a period of more than 5000 years, ayurvedic scholars and doctors have assembled and passed on a comprehensive knowledge of health care, the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and proper nutrition. This knowledge remains a fundamental component of Indian culture.
